It was an ideal place to go for a birthday lunch. You're immediately impressed by the opulence and we couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome. We were offered the striking deep-set seated dining table, but chosen for a table in the middle of the busy restaurant. My dinner guests elected to go hot’, much to the joy of the server and were experienced Thai food specialists. They weren't disappointed! Being conservative the flavours were unbelievable and I opted for the classic Thai green curry, which was hot
Chaophraya Manchester is something of a popular option for foodies in the city. Known for its high quality food and service that is excellent, it’s the goto set for birthday bashes and upmarket group dinners, Christmas celebrations. It’s fairly bustling, so although you likely need to request a snug corner if you’re on a date, in addition, it makes for an excellent spot to take family and work co-workers.
The decor feels conventional and decadent, with refined details and a high finish. There are lots of real Thai flourishes, but also a friendly formality that assures you of an excellent meal and great service from the minute you arrive. Fortunately, Chaophraya actually can deliver what it promises.
Looking around the place, we were eager to sit by the window in one of many deep-set seats, giving us a lots of group although a view and a snug, low table with an intimate feel regardless. We were greeted to live music from Great Really Music, who were just starting up, as we were seated. This set the tone for a comfortable, sumptuous. There was a nice feeling, with the eatery rather active but the service prompt.
Chaophraya Manchester Lunch Menu
The menu is excellent. There’s lots to pick from, but you’re overwhelmed. Since I like to try an extensive variety of foods whenever I see a restaurant (and consistently look struck with food envy), my company and I started off with the appetizer fondue. In a Thai twist on a cheese fondue, this was Thai fish cakes, pork, prawn, broiled squid on bamboo skewers and a delightful assortment of chicken satay. It must be purchased for at least two individuals, and it’s a great choice for groups, with something for everyone. The dunking creates a talking point for the most proper of dinner dates, and makes for something societal and pleasurable to do while you eat.
What came out was a pile of meat: chicken breast, broiled sirloin steak, king prawns and lamb chops flambéed with whisky. This was served on a brochette with Panang sauce, broiled vegetables and green curry sauce. We'd rice, also, but actually, it only was’t desired. We could’ve been full – and, really and feasted on the meat, scarcely touched the vegetables. This would be fantastic if you’re on the Atkins.
The meat was clearly of a high quality, and was cooked to perfection. Prawns and the steak were my favourite, while my company loved lamb and the chicken, so we were well served by the choice on offer. The dramatics of the dish – when you definitely must impress or which burns blue as it flambées – makes it excellent for parties.
As we were complete, the night we settled on another round of cocktails and some light sorbet to complete. There are an assortment of cocktails, like the Bloody Mary, Mai Tai, Long Island Ice Tea and Margarita, including classics with a Thai twist.
In general, Chaophraya is a consistent and outstanding Thai eatery, offering a tasteful surroundings with special service, for high quality food.
